Here is an email from an internet troll / tough guy who probably got touched too many times by the strange men his mother would bring home to perform services in exchange for money in order to pay the rent for the shack they lived in under a subway bridge. I'm sure his shrink asks him repeatedly to point on the clown doll of all the places where the bad men touched him.
Here's the thing, if I "still sound like $#!+" after 20 years, why is it I still get emails and phone calls from station owners, GM's, and PD's from out of this area asking me to work for them? I haven't been on Terrestrial radio (AM/FM/HD) in 2 1/2 years and I haven't been on internet radio in about five months now. The only thing I've been doing is a small weekly 1-hour podcast. The only reason I haven't moved off to another station market is because of a promise I made both of my daughters years ago that I wouldn't move them around while they were in school. I know how that feels and it's rough growing up constantly moving. I'm the type of man who keeps his promises come hell or high water. If I tell you I'm going to do something, I do it. If I don't own a radio station (KPRV 92.5 FM / 1280 AM - wishful thinking, I know) or at least working in the Fort Smith, AR market by the time my youngest daughter graduates high school, I'm out of here and those station owners, GM's, and PD's know it. Just because I'm not on the air in this $#!++y market doesn't mean those conversations aren't being had with people in other places. Trust me, I know for a fact there are people in places watching what I do next and if you are one of them, I understand why you feel intimidated.
Don't worry though, I still love you and big hugs out to you. If you want to have a civil conversation about the industry I love whole-heartedly, then be a grown man and step forward. I promise not to ask questions about all the encounters you had growing up with the strange men.
