Those Jack@$$'s at the OKC capitol building just don't get it. It's ideas like this as to why the likes of Elon Musk (i.e. Tesla) didn't want to move his headquarters to Oklahoma. Take the new house bill HB3994 (http://webserver1.lsb.state.ok.us/cf_pdf/2021-22%20COMMITTEE%20AMENDMENTS/House/HB3994%20FULLPCS1%20MIKE%20DOBRINSKI-JBH.PDF) that was passed in the House earlier tonight, but not yet ran through the state senate. One has to wonder if these people have too much methane roaming around in their head or if they are actually this out of touch with reality. How is it they "earn" their paycheck each month?
Tesla had had posted a plea (https://engage.tesla.com/articles/1134-oklahoma-oppose-hb-3994) on their website about 2 weeks ago encouraging Tesla fans to contact their local officials to vote "No", but it looks like those efforts were ultimately unsuccessful. If passed, this bill could force Tesla to close its existing locations in Oklahoma AND prevent Tesla from shipping cars to anyone in the state, which would force locals to travel out-of-state to service their cars or pick up their new Tesla vehicles. Oklahoma should focus on increasing revenue and jobs in the state, not stifling competition and limiting consumer choice.
Meanwhile, the jackals in OKC feel it would be better to make life more difficult somehow while making a quick buck by (BEEP!) someone out of their money. Part of the bill goes as follows:
"B. It shall be unlawful for common or permit carriers, operators of trucks, buses or other conveyances, or out-of-state manufacturers or suppliers to make delivery of any new motor vehicle from without the State of Oklahoma to any person, association or entity within the state unless the delivery is made by a person licensed in this state as a motor vehicle dealer or a motor vehicle direct shipper or delivery is made to a resident of the State of Oklahoma outside of the State of Oklahoma.
C. A person who sells and ships a new motor vehicle directly from any person, association or corporation to a resident of the State of Oklahoma without holding a valid motor vehicle direct shipper's license, upon conviction, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine pursuant to Section 565 of Title 47 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
D. This section shall not apply to the sale of more than five fleet vehicles at one time to consumers that title and register the vehicle in this state or another state."
Again, Oklahoma elected officials screwing, er... DOING what they do best for them. Again, is it any wonder why we can't get a break in this state?
